Description Our law firm is currently seeking a qualified applicant to fill the position of Legal Assistant. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for working with an attorney and paralegal/manager to conduct day-to-day operations of the law office, including carrying out administrative services, providing support to the legal team and ensuring that the firm remains in compliance with client and legal regulations. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong work ethic, exceptional problem-solving skills and is comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace.
Seeking someone who can efficiently handle a volume of cases, quickly become proficient with our data base system, regularly assist the Litigation Attorney in anticipating their needs, and can easily collaborate with co-workers to solve problems. Legal Assistant will be trained on firm-specific case management software.
Job duties include - but not limited to:
- Assist assigned attorney on collection files
- Drafts legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, file motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
- Processes incoming and outgoing mail for assigned files
- Monitors and schedules court dates for docket purposes.
Position Requirements - Prior legal experience preferred but not required
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and communication skills
- Able to take direction and work independently
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Comfortable operating and learning computer programs and web-based systems
- Knowledge of Collections industry a plus but not required
