Job Description
gpac is partnered up with a leading heavy and civil construction company specializing in the underground utilities sector that is seeking a skilled Directional Drill Operator to join their team.
As a Directional Drill Operator , you will be responsible for operating and maintaining directional drilling equipment to ensure the accurate and efficient installation of underground utilities. You will work closely with our project teams to execute plans and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Safety is paramount in all aspects of this role, and adherence to company and industry safety standards is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate directional drilling equipment to install conduits and cables underground.
* Set up and inspect equipment before each job to ensure functionality and safety.
* Perform bore path surveys and plan drilling operations according to project requirements.
* Monitor drilling operations and adjust parameters as necessary to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
* Coordinate with crew members and utility companies to ensure proper handling of materials and compliance with project specifications.
* Maintain and troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
* Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including OSHA guidelines, to maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Directional Drill Operator or similar role in the underground utilities sector.
* Proficiency in operating directional drilling equipment, including but not limited to directional drills, locating equipment, and support vehicles.
* Strong understanding of bore path planning, site preparation, and project execution.
* Ability to interpret blueprints, maps, and job specifications.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
* OSHA certification(s) preferred.
