Job Description

Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care. We are united in our mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS and related diseases. We strive to create an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment where we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all backgrounds, and design programs to promote public health particularly among high-risk and underserved populations. We conduct groundbreaking research that advances treatment, we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.

The Singh group within the Hale Center of Pancreas Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School studies the genetics and biology of pancreatic cancer. We believe in the integration of molecular biology, and -omic approaches to understand pancreatic cancer with three major focus areas (MFA): MFA1) Understanding clinical implications of molecular features of pancreatic cancer in large patient cohorts; MFA2) Develop improved methods of monitoring and predicting response to therapy using circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and MFA3) Preclinical studies in novel therapies for pancreatic cancer with emphasis on antibody drug conjugates and immunotherapies.

The group is embedded within the labs of Drs. Andrew Aguirre () and Brian Wolpin () at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Research in the group is focused on highly translational studies of patient-derived specimens and the group works collaboratively within the Dana-Farber Hale Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research ().

We are seeking a highly motivated computational biologist to join our team to work on data analysis as an associate computational biologist (ACB). Candidates with deep knowledge of computer science, mathematics &/or statistics are highly desired. The successful candidate will have an interest in cancer biology and would be working on different types of data including DNA based sequencing methods, ctDNA analysis, RNA-sequencing and analyzing outputs from functional genomic approaches such as CRISPR and drug screening. The ACB will be supervised under the mentorship of Dr. Singh and will work in close collaboration with the Aguirre lab at Dana-Farber with a team of post-docs, students and research technicians to conduct research as well as to analyze, present and publish research findings. The dynamic and rich environment of the Hale Center has extensive breadth of knowledge and expertise and will provide several exciting opportunities for collaboration and intellectual growth.

Those interested in future pursuit of MD, MD/PhD or PhD programs would grow in this role.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in computational biology is preferred but not required.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, team-centered mentality and most importantly a passion for developing new approaches for cancer.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree
