Job Description

The purpose of this class is to provide holistic case management and support to an assigned student caseload in collaboration with academic departments. 

Master?s degree required, degree in  education, counseling or a related field . Attainment of Career Counselor certification from NCDA or department approved organization within one (1) year of hire is required. Four (4) years of full-time work experience as an academic or career advisor , or in another student services field, preferably  in a community college setting.  Experience providing student case management to a diverse group of students in a collegiate setting is required.Evenings and weekends are required during peak registration periods.

  1. Provide holistic case management and evaluate students? progress, develop strategic academic and career plans, and assist students with reaching desired academic, career, financial, and social goals.
  2. Provide guidance, or appropriate referrals to resources, toensure students have needed academic, career, financial, and social supports by anticipating needs through consultative conversations.
  3. Supervise and evaluate assigned part-time staff, as required.
  4. Serve as a mentor to colleagues and ensure that they provide accurate information to students and document all student interactions and student information via CCBC systems.
  5. Coach students through navigating the college environment, culture, policies, practices, and technology.
  6. Contribute to individual, team, and unit goals to ensure student growth targets are met.
  7. Represent the department in outreach activities and serve on committees, as applicable.
  8. Plan and facilitate advisement-related presentations and training to faculty, staff and students.
  9. Participate in professional development opportunities to develop expertise in targeted advising approaches and best practices.
